| After
your initial application is received by our agency, we will give
you a complete packet that gives you all the necessary forms and
paperwork to begin your home study and the international adoption
process.
State and Federal requirements
state that any person planning to adopt a child must have a home
study done by a Licensed Adoption Agency. ECAS is a full service
adoption agency, and we provide this service for Minnesota families.
After ECAS has received
your application materials, one of our experienced social workers
will contact you to set up a schedule for your interviews. We have
a team of very efficient caseworkers who complete the home study
process with you at a pace consistent with your desires, your schedule,
and government requirements. There are typically three interview
appointments, one of which must take place in your home. It is a
requirement of DHS and INS that a description of your home and surrounding
area be included in your home study.
The following documents
will be required as verifications for approved home studies:
1. Birth Certificates
for each family member
2. Marriage Certificate
3. Clearance of Criminal
Background checks:
Bureau of Criminal Apprehension
Court Administration: Juvenile,
Civil, Criminal
Local Police

4. Employment Verification
Letters
5. Physicians Report
on each adoptive applicant
6. Reference letters
