Journey of Hope - Orphan Hosting Program Thousands of children pass through the orphanage system in Ukraine each year. There is little chance for these children to have a permanent family after they reach school age. European Children Adoption Services (ECAS) is pleased to announce our 2011 Summer Hosting Program. ECAS is working in partnership with a Kiev-based charity fund to bring Ukrainian orphan children and sibling groups, ages from 6 to 12, to stay with host families in the USA. The dates for travel will be finalized after participants of the program will be matched with host families. We are making the necessary arrangements for 10 - 12 orphan children from Ukraine to travel to USA in August, 2011. They will spend four fun filled weeks with a local host family, enjoy family life, make new friends and have a typical American Holiday experience. Many of these children have never had a nurturing family experience or been able to show affection. Their lives can be impacted greatly by their time in the USA and in your family. The host families will have an opportunity to share nurturing family environment with an orphan child and get to know each other. It is not only a learning experience for the children-participants of the program, but also for host families and their children.
Many past host families have built long term relationships with the children they hosted through correspondence and visits. Although adoption is not the objective of this program, many of the children who participated are eventually adopted by either the host family or other families who meet them during their visit. Since 2003 this program has allowed more than 150 children to find their forever family in the USA. The hosting program requires a tax deductible donation of $2,600 per child to cover their airfares and escort airfare, travel passport, trip insurance and other program costs. ECAS will facilitate weekly gatherings for these children to see each other, and for host families to share fun and fellowship. If you, or someone you know is interested in offering an orphan child a once in a life time opportunity, please contact ECAS for program information and upcoming information meeting dates. You will learn about hosting, and meet with local families who have participated in the Journey of Hope in the past. These families are exited to share their personal hosting/adopting experience with your family. We have until mid October to find host families for children that have been identified to participate in the program. Tentative program dates are December 19th to January 9th.
